Building a powerful PMS together: how teams at Booking Experts strengthen each other
At Booking Experts, we work with multiple teams on the development of our Property Management System (PMS). One of those teams is the PMS Core team: a group of Engineers and Product Managers who focus daily on the core functionalities of the system.
They develop and improve key parts of the Booking Experts reservation system. In doing so, they work closely with colleagues from other teams. This structured, collaborative approach allows us to build roadmap projects efficiently and respond effectively to the needs of our users.
But how does that work in practice? How do you ensure that cross-team collaboration not only runs smoothly, but truly contributes to better software? We asked Tom, Product Manager at Booking Experts and member of the PMS Core team.

Tell us, Tom. What does your role as Product Manager at Booking Experts involve?
Tom: “I’m the Product Manager within the PMS Core team at Booking Experts. This means I work closely with a team of engineers on the core of our Property Management System. We ensure that the most essential processes, like bookings and park management, run smoothly. My role is mainly about making sure we build the right things: what does the user need and how can we solve that in a smart way?”
What does collaboration look like within Booking Experts?
Tom: “What makes us unique is how closely we collaborate with other teams across the company. That collaboration doesn’t start when something is nearly finished, it begins at the very first idea. Whether it's designing a new feature or solving a complex technical issue, we’re constantly coordinating with teams like Design, Copywriting, Marketing, Customer Success, and Business Development.”

Can you share an example of this collaboration in action?
Tom: “Absolutely. A great example is the project around the guest list functionality. In the Netherlands, the regulations are quite relaxed, but in countries like Germany and Austria, the requirements are much stricter. Think about tourist tax calculations or mandatory guest registration with local authorities. That signal came from our Business Development Manager, Giel, in the DACH region. We then brought together the whole team: Engineering, Product, and Design to explore what was needed locally and how we could integrate that into our software in a smart way. The result is a feature that better meets the needs of our international users and one that even benefits Dutch customers.”
What do you think is the PMS Core team’s greatest strength?
Tom: “It’s not just the technical expertise, it’s how we work together. Everyone contributes. We have a clear focus, minimal distractions and a lot of room for personal ideas. That’s really motivating and it helps us build something that’s genuinely valuable to our users.”

Who would enjoy working at Booking Experts?
Tom: “If you enjoy structure, collaboration, and building a product that’s used by hundreds of holiday parks and campsites, you’ll feel right at home here. We’re far from finished. There’s plenty of opportunity to think along, experiment and make an impact.”
Sounds like a great opportunity. Where can people find out more?
Tom: “On our website! 👉 Check out our Engineering vacancies and discover how you can help shape the PMS of tomorrow.”
