How we stimulate Creativity at Booking Experts
Creativity often brings to mind colorful whiteboards, sticky notes and brainstorming sessions. And sure, sometimes we do have those (see below). But when you work at Booking Experts, creativity means something deeper: it’s the freedom to think differently, to experiment, and to learn new things: every single day.
We believe work becomes not just better but genuinely more enjoyable when people have space for ideas. That’s why we nurture creativity in many ways, big and small. Here’s how we make sure fresh ideas keep flowing across our teams.
1. Brainstorms where everyone’s voice counts
You don’t need to be a designer or marketing guru to come up with great ideas, creativity belongs to everyone. Whether you’re a developer, part of the support team, online marketeer or a designer, your input matters.
That’s why our teams hold regular brainstorming sessions. The setup is simple: a few post-its, one whiteboard (or a glass wall) a clear goal and about thirty minutes of open sparring. No need for a “creative brain” label; you just need the courage to share what’s on your mind.
Some of our best features and improvements have emerged from these sessions where the only rule is: think boldly and listen openly.

2. Fresh thinking, new skills
Staying in a rut kills creativity. At Booking Experts, we want everyone to keep growing: not just in their daily tasks but beyond them. That’s why we regularly offer internal trainings and workshops designed to break fixed patterns.
Topics range from creative problem-solving and design thinking to fresh approaches for giving feedback and out-of-the-box thinking, all with the same goal: explore new ways of looking at challenges and thinking of creative solutions.
We also invest in supporting our people from day one. Colleagues who onboard new team members as buddies now receive dedicated training through our buddy program, so they can guide newcomers confidently and effectively.
Plus, we encourage everyone to attend relevant events to keep learning, stay inspired, and bring new ideas back to the team.
The result? People bring fresh energy and ideas back to their teams, ready to try new approaches and improve how we work.💪

3. Sharing is caring (and creating!)
Creativity thrives when ideas get shared. At Booking Experts, we have multiple moments to celebrate and inspire creativity. For example, during the BEX Booster (a company-wide event where all teams come together) we highlight successful customer cases, new tools and innovative ways of working that keep everyone up to date and full of fresh ideas.
The Booking Boosters team also hosts their own quarterly booster to dive deeper into online marketing topics relevant specifically to them. Colleagues who put in a lot of effort or come up with the best creative idea are awarded the quarterly trophy.🏆A fun way to recognize and celebrate creativity in action!

Every two weeks, during our Product & Engineering updates, new projects and features are showcased to the entire team. This keeps the flow of innovation steady and transparent.
On top of that, we organize sales training sessions, often with external experts who help sharpen everyone’s skills. This includes international sales training days where our Dutch and international Business Development colleagues come together in Enschede. These demos and trainings don’t just celebrate what’s been done; they spark new ideas. “What if we took this further?” or “Could that work for our team too?” are common questions that lead to fresh collaborations and innovations.

4. We take ideas seriously
Not every brilliant idea fits neatly into the roadmap, and that’s exactly the point. At BEX, we give ideas the space to grow, even outside planned projects. You don’t need a polished business plan or formal approval to get started, just the drive to take action.
A great example is our new Help Centre. What started as feedback about the knowledge base being hard to navigate quickly turned into a full overhaul of our support environment. Karin and Teddie took the lead entirely on their own without it ever being on the official planning. The result? You can now type a full question and search across one central, multilingual hub, helping users find better answers in fewer clicks.
We don’t just solve the problem, we learn from it. Initiatives like this are given room to be tested, improved, and shared. And with tangible results in hand, they inspire new ideas:
- “What if we made this just as user-friendly in our own interface?”
- “Could this same approach work for our customer training?”
That’s how new collaborations, tools and everyday improvements are born, simply because someone took the first step and iterated quickly.

5. Creativity happens over lunch (and Slack)
Not all great ideas need a formal meeting. Often, the best ideas are coming during a casual lunch walk, a quick Slack thread, or a coffee break. A two-minute chat on Slack turns into a new feature. A post-lunch walk conversation leads to a quicker way of doing something. These moments aren’t scheduled, but they’re part of how we work. Staying open to ideas, wherever they pop up means we don’t miss the good ones.
