Software Engineer
Build and scale the backbone of our SaaS platform. Take ownership of our Ruby on Rails architecture, solve complex technical puzzles, and grow with our international team in Enschede or Zwolle!
At Booking Experts, we don't just build software; we build the engine that holiday parks and resorts across Europe rely on every single day. Our platform is growing fast in terms of users, data, and functionality. As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for making sure our systems remain scalable, performant, and reliable. You aren’t just a coder here; you are a builder who takes ownership of key parts of the application and helps us make the right technical choices for the long term.
What you will be doing
You will join a product-oriented engineering team where we value results over process. Working full-stack with Ruby on Rails, you’ll build new features that have a direct impact on thousands of users. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers and fellow engineers to translate complex requirements into clean, modular solutions. Whether it's optimizing data flows, maintaining external integrations, or rethinking parts of our architecture to handle future growth, you have the space to take initiative and see your ideas go into production. You'll report to Stefan Kroes (CTO), who values deep technical discussions and engineers who think along about the strategic direction of the product.
What you get
Salary: €4,400 – €6,500 gross per month + a 10% salary bonus after 1 year.
Hardware: A high-end MacBook, a large screen, and a modern sit-stand desk.
Balance: 25 holiday days and the flexibility of hybrid working (Enschede/Zwolle).
Growth: Personal development budget for training, certifications, and conferences.
Culture: A fresh communal lunch every day and a nuchter, technically-driven environment.
Perks: A cycle-to-work scheme and travel allowance.

About Booking Experts
Our origins lie with Expert Webdesign, where we developed websites for all kinds of companies, including recreation entrepreneurs. We repeatedly encountered the same problem: the websites were far ahead of the market and competition, but lacked the ability to book a vacation directly through the website. Customers had to contact the reception desk by phone or switch to external booking platforms. We thought this could be done better and more easily.
That's why we sat down with all kinds of parties, such as receptionists, park managers, technical services, cleaners, barrier operators, and management, to identify the bottlenecks from various perspectives. The result was the development of an innovative reservation system that integrates all the essentials for recreation companies. That's how Booking Experts came into being in 2011. Our booking platform has grown to become the go-to platform for holiday parks, campsites, and hotels in various countries.
To meet growing demand, we established our marketing agency Booking Boosters in 2017. This enables us to help our customers increase their online sales and stimulate their growth. Through effective and performance-based marketing techniques, such as SEO, SEA, Affiliate Marketing, and Social Media, we help holiday parks grow and flourish!
